Early Life & Career

Jennifer Lee Lawson grew up in Kingwood, Texas, where she attended Kingwood High School and developed an early interest in justice and service. Drawn to the legal profession from a young age, she knew by around age five that she wanted to pursue a career in law. Jennifer went on to attend Texas State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Business and French. Her academic achievements earned her placement on the Dean’s List as well as the Liberal Arts Academic Excellence Award, distinctions that reflect her dedication to scholarship and personal growth.

Legal Training

Jennifer earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 2011 and was admitted to the Texas Bar that same year. Over the course of her career, she has developed a broad legal background spanning both civil and criminal practice areas, including landlord-tenant law, consumer rights, family law, misdemeanor prosecution, and felony defense. This diverse experience has strengthened her courtroom skills, sharpened her legal judgment, and reinforced her commitment to advocating for individuals during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Jennifer serves as an Associate Attorney at Smith Clinesmith LLP, where she is eager to expand her practice into the field of elder abuse litigation and help secure justice for vulnerable individuals. Motivated by a desire to make a meaningful difference, she looks forward to learning this new area of law while contributing her experience and advocacy skills to the firm’s mission. Jennifer is committed to holding wrongdoers accountable, supporting clients with compassion, and working to ensure that those who have been harmed receive the dignity, protection, and representation they deserve.
