Biography

Early Life & Career

Justin Wood grew up in Arlington, Texas, where he attended Lamar High School before going on to study at the University of Texas at Arlington. There, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in English, supported by a full ride through the UTA Presidential Scholarship. Justin's time at UTA was marked not only by academic achievement but by a genuine commitment to community — he founded and organized UTAid, a philanthropic event that raised thousands of dollars for multiple charities over the course of several weeks, reflecting the service-oriented values he would carry into his legal career.

Legal Training

Justin attended Vermont Law and Graduate School, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2021 — a year ahead of schedule through the Honors Accelerated JD program. During his time there, he served as a delegate to the Vermont Youth Climate Congress in 2019, deepening his engagement with complex legal and policy issues. Justin has been admitted to the bar in five jurisdictions: Texas (2021), New Mexico (2023), Oklahoma (2023), Washington D.C. (2023), and Maryland (2024), and is a member of the DC Trial Lawyers Association.

Career at Smith Clinesmith

Justin joins Smith Clinesmith with a broad practice foundation and a passion for tackling the most challenging and novel issues the law has to offer. He is drawn to the firm by the opportunity to engage in complex legal analysis and contribute meaningfully to cases that matter. Guided by the words of Dr. Seuss — "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not" — Justin brings to every case a sense of personal responsibility and an unwavering belief that showing up fully for clients is what justice demands.
