Biography
Early Life & Career
Shweta Ajinkya Dani grew up in Nagpur, India, where her curiosity for science and justice first took shape. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating with honors. While she initially set her sights on a career in physics, a pivotal experience in 2013 changed her path. After being denied admission to a master’s program despite achieving the highest entrance score, Shweta chose to challenge the decision—drafting and filing her own petition. Impressed by her work, a lawyer encouraged her to pursue law, marking the beginning of her passion for advocacy and justice.
Legal Training
Shweta earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree after completing legal studies in both Nagpur, India, and Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended Emory University. During her academic journey, she served as Secretary of the LL.M. Society at Emory and President of the Moot Court Society in India, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to legal scholarship.
She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2025. Her academic foundation and international perspective provide her with a unique ability to navigate complex legal issues with empathy and precision.
Career at Smith Clinesmith
Shweta joins Smith Clinesmith LLP as an Associate Attorney, where she is passionate about advocating for society’s most vulnerable—particularly elderly individuals who have suffered neglect or abuse in nursing homes. She is motivated by the opportunity to hold institutions accountable and to help ensure justice for those who cannot always speak for themselves.
