Biography
Erica Monk is a Texas native and a seasoned legal and justice professional whose career has been defined by a steadfast commitment to advocacy, precision, and service. With a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Management and Leadership from Sam Houston State University and a foundational background spanning juvenile justice, public administration, and federal court operations, Erica brings a rare depth of institutional knowledge to the Smith Clinesmith executive team.
Prior to joining Smith Clinesmith, Erica served as a Courtroom Deputy for a United States District Court Judge in Dallas, where she managed complex trial and hearing calendars, coordinated across multiple judicial departments, and served as a critical liaison between the court and practicing attorneys. That experience — combined with earlier roles in probation services and staff accounting — forged an operational discipline and attention to detail that translate seamlessly into the high-stakes environment of elder abuse and nursing home neglect litigation.
Erica has been a cornerstone of the Smith Clinesmith litigation team for the past three years, bringing her federal court expertise to bear as a Litigation Paralegal before stepping into her current executive role. A tireless advocate for every client the firm serves, she approaches each matter with the same conviction that has guided her career: that every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and fiercely represented.
